Fall Carlisle was the event that started it all for the Miller families, and since 1974, has also been the event that’s concluded the automotive events schedule at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds.  From October 2-6, 2024, nearly 100,000 guests will converge to buy, sell, and trade all things automotive.  In addition, less than two blocks east of the fairgrounds at the Carlisle Expo Center, Carlisle Auctions will host its two-day classic and collector car auction from October 3-4.  All of this serves as the backdrop to the historic conclusion of the Carlisle Events 50th Anniversary season. 

Combining a car auction and automotive flea market event is what makes an event like Fall Carlisle so much for buyers and sellers alike.  There are 8,100 vending spaces packed with thousands of vendors and millions of auto parts for sale, over 650 cars for sale within the car corral, unique finds, deals at every turn, and a sense of community that can only best be enjoyed at the event.  Further, when you take those 650 classic and daily driver-type cars for sale by owner in the car corral and factor in the 400+ planned consignments at the auction, that means well over 1,000 rides spanning all eras of production have the chance to find new homes before the conclusion of the event.

When the first Carlisle Events offering in 2024 took place back in January with Auto Mania in Allentown, no one could have anticipated the impact that its 50th Anniversary season would have on both the company and the car community.  Show by show, month by month, magical moments and memories were happening in real time, both by individuals and their families.  Now, with Fall Carlisle on the horizon at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds (October 2-6), Carlisle Events would like to welcome families back one last time.  In conjunction with Grandparents Day and as a way to say thanks for a great 2024, Carlisle Events is pleased to announce a special spectator admission ticket discount.

There’s always something special about Corvettes at Carlisle weekend.  That’s been the case since 1982 and the uniqueness of this grand celebration of all things Corvette continued in 2024 with 3,044 Corvettes on the Aerolarri Wheels Fun Field.   It was also a chance to connect with old friends, make new ones, show off their Corvette, meet special guests, and see the special displays.

From the time the gates opened at 7 AM on August 22 through the final guest heading home at the end of the weekend, it’s fair to say that this was one of the all-time best Corvettes at Carlisle.  Special displays included a 50-year showcase of 1974 Corvettes, the NCRS Gallery, NCCC Judged Showfield, the Corvette Challenge Series reunion of both cars and drivers, and Chip’s Choice; this year, showcasing mean Corvettes.

Along with the special displays, THE draw was Team Chevrolet and their ALL-NEW Corvette ZR1.  This masterpiece drew crowds at every turn, including when it rolled to the stage for a pair of vehicle walkarounds.  It led Corvette lovers of all ages to the stage in the same way that the Pied Piper led children away from the town of Hamelin in the 13^th century.  Once parked, the minds behind the machine told the tale of its conception, design, and implementation, while explaining what makes it so amazing.  This included Harlan Charles, Corvette Product Manager; Josh Holder, Chief Engineer; and Kirk Bennion; Exterior Design Manager.    Further, new Executive Chief Engineer Tony Roma proudly chimed in, offering his feedback on Corvettes at Carlisle and this new, powerful Corvette.

The cars were not only on display, but they were also in motion too.  King of the X Presented by Lingenfelter Performance expanded to include a trio of competition classes, Mild 2 Wild offered a C4 Challenge, there was a rolling exhaust contest, and the Challenge Car drivers got behind the wheel of their storied racers to take some laps too.  In addition, Corvettes at Carlisle showcased its finalists for People’s Choice/Best of Show presented by Aerolarri Wheels, while Hemmings Marketplace supported club contests for both the largest club and largest registry.

Giving was a big part of the weekend too, as the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation (CMAF) held its annual benefit dinner where nearly $50,000 was raised by way of donations, door prizes, and raffles.  In addition, via a partnership with the Lancaster County Corvette Club, a 2024 2LT Corvette C8 was awarded to Mark Murr from Lititz, PA. Mark had winning ticket 003, which is fitting since the number 3 is such an important part of Corvette racing’s history.  Dollars raised from that raffle supported both the CMAF and Clare House.  All new in 2024, the CMAF announced the Chip Miller Memorial Scholarship.  Available for applicants starting in December of 2024 and awarded in May of 2025, the scholarship has been seeded by way of a $3,000 donation.  It’s designed to support a high school, tech school, or college-aged student who has automotive interests. 

The Corvette fun wrapped up with an awards presentation at the stage on Saturday afternoon for contest winners, followed by the on-site awards parade.  From there, nearly 500 Corvettes roared off the grounds and into the community as part of the Downtown Carlisle Corvette Parade and Party.  Thousands of spectators, including many children, watched in amazement as they not only saw the wheels in motion but were able to pose for photos in front of or sit in the cars too. 

There was one more piece to the multi-day event, and that was a FREE all-makes Cars and Coffee Cruise-In on Sunday, August 25.  With hundreds of Corvettes and their owners heading southwest to Bowling Green, Kentucky for the annual Corvette Caravan, the event was a launching point for them, plus welcomed in even more car owners with vehicles spanning all brands.

While Corvettes at Carlisle has concluded for 2024, plans are ongoing for the 2025 event.  The showcase returns August 21-23 and will feature a 50^th Anniversary of 1975 Corvettes, NCCC 7-Sanctions judging, the NCRS Gallery, a Race Reunion, and a Chip’s Choice display featuring the ZR1.  Registration is now open and complete info will be forthcoming online at CarlisleEvents.com.  

Corvettes at Carlisle has been a staple at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds and a force in automotive circles since 1982.  For the past 40+ years, the world’s largest all-Corvette-themed car show can stake claim to the fact that EVERY Corvette Executive Chief Engineer has been to the show; from the very first mastermind, Zora Arkus-Duntov to the recently retired Tadge Juechter.  As the 2024 event looms, Corvettes at Carlisle is honored to announce that Tony Roma, the NEW leader of all things Corvette will make his Carlisle debut August 22-24.

In addition to staff, Team Chevrolet will have a gallery of Corvettes on display, all of which will be a backdrop to the show as they mix and mingle with showgoers from around the world.  Further, some of these rides will make their way to the Carlisle stage for walk-arounds hosted by select members of the Team Chevrolet roster.  Confirmed vehicles include the all-new ZR1, a ZR1 cut-away chassis, a pair of new Stingrays, two E-Rays, plus a Z06.

Anyone who’s ever gone to a large-scale event where there’s guaranteed fun to be had can relate to spending three days at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds for the biggest all-truck-themed event in the region; the Carlisle Truck Nationals and Big Rig Show and Shine.  This year’s truck showcase (August 2-4) hit the 2,880 truck mark, meaning for the fourth consecutive year, the event set a NEW Showfield record for registered trucks.  That milestone continues a growth trend for a show that’s more than doubled in size over the past ten years.  Along the way, truck lovers of all ages hauled in with high hopes and rolled out with memories to last a lifetime.

Gates opened at 7 AM daily and offered countless smiles per hour from start to finish each day.  Guests were treated to four monster truck shows with Brutus and Avenger, a pair of Freestyle FMX stunt shows, monster truck rides, truck competitions, displays, and fun for the kids.  Kids fun included Oxford Power Wheels racing, kids bingo, a kids cash grab, free goody bag for kids 12 and under, the ability for kids to help pick an award-winning truck in Building T, and the overall experience of seeing their toy box come to life right before their very eyes!

As special displays go, 2024 showcased some amazing SyTys in Building Y.  The anchor trucks to the group included one that was dubbed the world’s fastest truck along with another that raced to the top of Pikes Peak.  Not far from Building Y were the pavilion and Building T.  Under the pavilion roof and neighboring tents were dozens of amazing works of art; cool custom vans that made up Vanarama.  From a mini Mystery Machine to one with a hockey theme, another adorned in Alice in Wonderland art, fantasy art, and more, this area always draws a crowd.  Finally, Building T hosted a Featured Truck Display filled with a variety of trucks, including antique Fire Trucks presented by the Old Fire Farts of York County and antique Trucks presented by the American Truck Historical Society.

Antique fire trucks weren’t the only rides from a bygone era.  As part of the rapidly growing Big Rig Show and Shine, supported by Bergey’s Truck Center and Kenworth of PA, the American Truck Historical Society brought antique rigs to Carlisle.  Those trucks perfectly complimented the nearly 250 rigs on the south side of the grounds.  There were dump trucks, haulers with tractors on the back, trucks pulling trucks, cement mixers, tow trucks, and more.  Carlisle truly has become a great overnight destination for truckers rolling through central PA and for those who are passionate about showing their heavy hauler.

Other great aspects of the event were the Redneck Games hosted by local radio station Red 102.3, the National Parts Depot judged Showfield, and contests like the high truck challenge, low truck limbo, drop and drag, and rolling burnout contest.  Plus, the fairgrounds came to life on Saturday night with the popular Big Rig glow show. 

The weekend wrapped up with a pair of awards parades and one final monster truck show, perfectly setting the table for next year and the continued pursuit of 3,000 trucks.
